Easter / Passover
The church celebrates the festival of Passover as noted in the bible (Lev 23, Deut 16). This is a very important celebration in our calendar and is celebrated over a three day period beginning on Good Friday until the Lord has risen on Sunday morning (Matt 28:6).
The congregants observe the festival by eating unleavened bread for the seven days as we prepare to commemorate the ultimate sacrifice as Jesus died for our sins on the cross. As it is recorded in the gospel of John 13:1-20, another humbling experience takes place as the pastor washes our feet.
As it is written, this has the effect of reminding us to receive Him and is such a wonderful feeling. There is the breaking of bread and taking part in this special ceremony too when we partake in the drinking from kolthe cup that is poured out for us in the new covenant in His blood.
Sunday marks the pinnacle of the celebration as it is proclaimed that “He is risen” and the world is saved. This is truly an overwhelming period and is significant in our lives.
